Alleppey Beach: A Gateway to Tranquility and History

Alleppey Beach, or simply Alappuzha Beach, is a lovely beach in the coastal town of Alappuzha in Kerala. The beach is renowned for its golden sands, clear waters, and historical significance, and it is an ideal location for travelers looking to escape and immerse themselves in culture. Nature, history, and culture come together, making it one of the iconic beaches in Kerala. Whether one decides to walk along its golden shores, visit its historic pier, or soak in its marvellous sunsets, an experience of Alleppey Beach is simply unmatched.

A Glimpse into the History

The pier in Alleppey Beach is one of its marked features. This pier extends into the Arabian Sea with grace. Built during the heyday of colonialism, this pier was built more than 150 years ago and had once bustled with activity-the life-draining activity-of trade and commerce. Ships laden with spices, coir, and other goods would dock here-marking Alleppey as one of the most significant ports of trade. Though the pier has survived the test of time, and only remains of it now exist, it stands as a memory, a nostalgia of the glorious maritime history of the town. Next to the beach is the Alappuzha Lighthouse, another one of the famous landmarks.
